Same here, I have to use extended mags to hold my Thunder 380 and my Tomcat. Thanks for the info. I have a friend who wanted to know about the Ruger SR9, which I knew all about, and the XD, of which I knew very little. Since you have a fan club for XDs, I figured this was the best place to ask. Thanks again.

Both guns are striker fired, and use polymer frames, so comparison should be easy. Both lines are offered in the popular pistol calibers of 9×19, .40, and .45 so you can get the one you want without compromising.

Yeah, the XD is a reliable pistol! But, as Cory (gunsmithcat) would say, I love the XD so much that I could start writing a blog post about my morning coffee, and end up talking about the XD before I got to the end of the first paragraph

My XD40 subcompact (3”) has a bit more recoil, but I find it to be much more controllable than a Glock 23. On the subcompact, I find that using the full size magazine, which extends the grip by another inch or so, makes the pistol much easier to handle. But then again, I have large hands and can’t get my pinkie on the grip of the subcompact unless I use the full size mag.

I’d like to know about the 3inch concealed carry version as well as the full frame. The only poly-framed gun I ever owned was a Walther P22 because I figured a .22LR would have negligible kick anyway. So, I’d like to hear about some poly-framed guns in a combat caliber. Thanks!

I have an XMD9 tactical. I bought it a year ago when only the 9’s were available. I shoots superbly and I get great groupings with it. I haven’t starting carrying a firearm yet, but I think the tactical might be just a little too large for this purpose.
